Conservatory & Skylight Window Film Installation - Essex, London, Southeast

Is your conservatory unbearable in summer? Is Glare ruining the overall feel?

An introduction

A conservatory roof is essentially a greenhouse. Glass and polycarbonate panels let solar energy straight through β€” heating the room far beyond the rest of your home in summer, then losing heat rapidly in winter.

The result? A room that’s too hot from May to September, too cold from November to March, and damaging your furniture with UV exposure all year round. Most people end up avoiding the room entirely during the hottest months.

Window film applied to your conservatory roof and side panels blocks up to 80% of solar heat and glare β€” without total loss of natural light or vision, allowing you to still enjoy the view when using the space.

Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s better to bite the bullet and get rid of the thing completely, it’s all about figuring out what is best for you in the long run. We are not a hard sell, we will always be completely transparent with you about the positives and negatives of window film

UV protection film

Blocks 99% of ultraviolet light β€” the primary cause of furniture, carpet, and fabric fading. Even if heat isn’t your main concern, UV film protects everything in the room from sun damage year-round, whilst still maintaining the look of the building.

Low-E Insulating Film

Not just a summer solution. Low-emissivity film reflects heat back into the room during winter β€” reducing heat loss by up to 30%. If your conservatory is cold from October to March, then low-e film may be for you.Β

Your glass may already have a low-e coating, and the effects of low-e films can also be marginal, but nonetheless it’s always something to consider.

Glass or Polycarbonate? We Install on Both

Not sure what your conservatory roof is made of? Here's how to tell:

Glass panels

Heavier, cold to the touch, clear and rigid. Most modern conservatories use glass.

Polycarbonate panels

Lighter, slightly flexible, can look slightly cloudy or textured. Common on older and budget conservatories.

It matters because the film is different

Polycarbonate requires a specialist film with a flexible adhesive designed for the material’s expansion and contraction. Standard glass film applied to polycarbonate will bubble, peel, and fail.

We assess your roof during the free consultation and quotation, and we will always recommend the right product for your specific setup. If you’re unsure, just tell us when you get in touch β€” we’ll sort it.

Internal or External Application β€” We'll Advise

Most conservatory film is applied internally β€” working from inside the room, applied directly to the glass or polycarbonate surface.

In some cases, external application is the better option:

  • Certain conservatory roofs where internal access is restricted
  • Situations where the outer surface is the most effective placement for heat rejection
  • Skylights or roof lights that are easier to reach from outside (e.g flat roof)

Don’t let alarm bells ring… External films have slightly shorter warranty periods (4-7 years generally), but they are even more effective at tackling heat and glare.

We’ll assess this during your survey or consulatation, and recommend the approach that gives the best result for your specific conservatory.

FAQS

These are our most Frequently Asked Questions relating to Conservatory Window Film

Our suncool polycarbonate film has a special adhesive that allows the film to mold to the grooves of your panels, meaning window film will still be effective on these kinds of panels.

This is totally down to personal preference. Blinds are an amazing way to control glare or privacy when you want it. However, film is more subtle, and more effective at controlling heat. It’s always worth thinking through all the options before you come to your final decision.

Β No. We offer a range of tint levels β€” from virtually invisible films that block heat and UV without any visible change, to lightly tinted options that also reduce glare. The most popular choices for conservatories keep the room bright and airy. We can show you samples during the survey so you know exactly what to expect.

10 to 15 years is typical, with a 10-year manufacturer warranty as standard. Premium films can last 20+ years. The film doesn’t degrade, peel, or bubble when installed correctly β€” and it requires no maintenance beyond normal window cleaning.

Most standard conservatories are completed in a single day β€” typically 6-10 hours depending on the size and number of panels. Larger or more complex conservatories may take more than one day. We’ll confirm the expected timeframe when we quote

For heat and glare issues, absolutely. Film reduces solar heat by up to 80% at a fraction of the cost of a roof replacement β€” no structural work, no planning permission, no weeks of disruption. A solid roof is the right answer if you want to completely change the room, but if you want to keep the light and the view while fixing the heat problem, film is the smarter option.
