Full-height glass looks great — until someone walks into it.
Manifestation film is applied to glass to make it visible. It’s most commonly seen as frosted dots, squares, or bands on glass doors and full-height partitions — but it can also be custom-designed with logos, patterns, or decorative features.
The purpose is simple: stop people walking into glass they didn’t realise was there. In commercial buildings, it’s not optional — it’s a legal requirement under UK building regulations.
If you own or manage a non-domestic building with full-height glazing, the answer is almost certainly yes. Four separate pieces of UK legislation cover this:
Requires transparent glazing to “incorporate features which make it apparent” — preventing collisions in doors and low-level glass panels.
Places a duty on employers to ensure transparent surfaces are appropriately marked. This applies to every non-domestic workplace.
Cover accessibility. Manifestation markings must have a minimum 30-point contrast (LRV) against the background, placed in two bands: one at 850–1,000mm and another at 1,400–1,600mm from floor level. Both bands must run the full width of the glass.
The one most people miss. It creates an anticipatory duty — meaning you can’t wait for someone with a visual impairment to have an accident before acting. If your glass is unmarked, you may already be non-compliant.
The duty falls on employers, building owners, landlords, and anyone with control over the premises — including tenants and facilities managers. Non-compliance can lead to personal injury claims, HSE enforcement, Equality Act claims, and potentially voided employer’s liability insurance.
The most common option. Clean, minimal, and fully compliant. Quick to install and cost-effective.

Continuous strips of film at the required heights. A classic approach to compliance.
Patterns, geometric shapes, or custom artwork. There’s no rule that says manifestation has to be boring — as long as it meets the contrast and height requirements, the design is up to you.

Want to combine compliance and data protection? Then you’ve come to the right place. Screen masking films offer a slight tint and blacks out any screens behind the film.
All of these options use the highest quality products from manufacturers like Opalux, Metamark, and Mactac. Professionally cut and applied to your glass.
It depends on how much glass you have, the design you choose, and access. Simple dots or plain films that come in rolls are always more straightforward. Custom branded or decorative work across an entire office floor can take longer.
Rather than guess, the easiest thing is to send over some photos of the glass that needs covering and I’ll give you an honest quote within 24 hours, that gives us a great place to work from.

No. The regulations apply to non-domestic buildings only — offices, schools, shops, care homes, hotels, restaurants, and public buildings. If you have full-height glass at home and want it marked for safety, you can, but there’s no legal requirement.
Yes, as long as it meets the size, contrast, and height requirements. The logo needs to be at least 150mm high and placed in both the lower band (850–1,000mm) and upper band (1,400–1,600mm). It’s a good way to get compliance and branding done in one go.
Manifestation film covers specific areas of the glass — dots, bands, or designs at set heights — to make the glass visible. Full frosted film covers the entire pane for privacy. They use the same material, but the application and purpose are different. If you need both privacy and compliance, full frosted film can do both jobs at once.
Interior manifestation film typically lasts 10+ years with normal cleaning and use. It’s a permanent installation — not a sticker that peels off after a year.
Yes, the adhesives are strong, but it can be removed. Most of the time existing film and patterns can be removed without damaging the glass.
You’re exposed to personal injury claims, HSE enforcement action, and potential Equality Act discrimination claims. If someone walks into unmarked glass and is injured, the liability sits with whoever controls the premises. It’s one of those things that costs very little to fix but can cost a lot if you don’t.
