The problem
The customers had just moved into their new home. Everything was perfect — except the conservatory. It was roasting. On the days we installed, it hit 33 degrees outside, and inside that glass box it was unbearable. The conservatory was in rough shape too — but the heat was the immediate problem they needed solved.
They’d already spoken to other companies. None of them conducted a site survey. They quoted over the phone or by photo, offered a price, and that was it. No one came out to look at the glass, assess the orientation, check for potential issues, or talk the customer through their options properly.
We don’t work like that.
Our approach
We visited the property before anything else. A site survey is part of our process on every job — but especially on conservatories. Every conservatory is different: the frame material, the glass type, the orientation, the number and size of panes, whether there’s polycarbonate mixed in. You can’t quote a conservatory properly from a photo.
After assessing the space, we recommended Dual Reflective 25 (DR25) — a solar control film that rejects a significant amount of solar heat while maintaining outward visibility. It gives a subtle reflective finish from the outside during the day, keeping the interior private and cool without making it feel dark.
We’re not the cheapest. There’s no price match guarantee. What we guarantee is that we’ll guide you through the process properly, making sure the job is done correctly from start to finish.
The installation
36 panes of glass. Two full days. 33 degrees on both.
This one tested us. In that heat, the slip solution was drying faster than we could work — the film was tacking to the glass before we could position it. On day one we had to adapt: move to shaded windows, come back to the sun-facing panes when conditions allowed, and use significantly more slip than usual to keep the film workable.
Every pane was measured, cut, and cleaned individually. No shortcuts, no rushing. In extreme heat, patience is what separates a clean install from one that traps debris and bubbles underneath.
By the end of day two, all 36 panes were done.
The result
The difference was immediate. The customer could feel how much cooler the conservatory was before we’d even finished packing up. The reflective finish looked sharp from outside, and inside the space went from “unusable greenhouse” to somewhere they’d actually sit in summer.
It’s a temporary fix in the sense that the conservatory itself needs work long-term — but the film does exactly what it needs to do right now. It’s bought them time, comfort, and usability in a space that was previously written off from May to September.
They were thrilled. Their exact words: it felt like a completely different room.

Why choosing the right installer matters
We’ve been hearing more and more horror stories recently. Just this week, we visited a property where a previous company had brought the completely wrong film — clear heat control instead of privacy film. The customer’s house backed onto new builds going up. It was obvious what they needed the moment you looked at the property. A basic site survey would have caught it instantly.
That company was swearing on site, being secretive about their process, and then tried to charge the customer £1,000 for film they’d ordered wrong. The customer was left out of pocket with the wrong product on their windows.
This is what happens when you skip the fundamentals. A site survey costs nothing. Listening to what the customer actually needs costs nothing. Getting the film right first time costs nothing — except the 30 minutes of preparation that lazy installers skip.
We conduct a site survey on every job. We talk you through the options. We show you samples if there’s any doubt. And if something isn’t right, we fix it before it becomes your problem.
